This year 2016, Bank of Uganda (BOU) marks 50 years of fostering price stability and a sound financial system. The theme for this anniversary is BoU@50: Promoting Financial Stability. Commemorating this anniversary will include nation-wide public awareness initiatives to reach varied audiences with relevant information on what the central bank does.

The national Financial Literacy strategy targets the improvement of pupils’ financial literacy through co-curricular activities in schools. Therefore BoU entered into partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports (MoESTS) to conduct a nationwide essay writing competition on the topic “Why saving money is good.”
